Procrastination Isn’t the Problem, Not Showing Up Is

A lesson from Week 2 of my training program

Week 2 of my training hit differently. Not because of the workouts themselves, but because I noticed something creeping in:

Procrastination.

That classic dance…You know what you need to do, but you just don’t start.

You wait. Scroll a bit. Delay a bit more. Maybe even lie to yourself:

“I’ll go in 5 minutes.”

I was doing it.

Especially when it came to running after a long day, or when I was already tired. And yeah. I felt guilty at first.

But then something clicked.

Procrastination isn’t the enemy

The real enemy?

Not doing what you said you would do.

That’s what hit me.

It’s not the fact that it took me 10... 20... even 30 minutes to get moving. It’s the fact that, I still showed up!

And that’s what matters.

The win is in the follow-through

So many of us beat ourselves up because we procrastinate. But here’s what I’ve learned:

Be proud you still got it done. Even if it took longer. Even if you weren’t feeling it.

Because the alternative? Saying “f*ck it” and not going at all. That’s what breaks momentum. That’s what builds inconsistency. That’s what kills your goals.

A simple mindset shift

Next time you catch yourself procrastinating, try this:

  • Don’t judge yourself for needing a moment.

  • Take your 5, 10, 30 minutes, if you must.

  • But follow through.

  • That’s the key: consistency over perfection.

Final Thought

You’re not lazy. You’re not weak. You’re human.

The fact that you still did the thing, even after a delay, means you’re moving in the right direction.

So don’t focus on how long it took you to start. Focus on the fact that you finished. That’s the mindset that builds progress.
